Story Behind the Shot: In late Spring of 2016 I went to Dumaguete in the Philippines to participate in a photography workshop given by Armando Arorizo and Luis Sinca. When we encountered an elaborate street parade celebrating a local holiday, I saw the shy girls all dressed up and knew I had my subject. I worked quite close with a fairly wide lens to try to capture the presence of the event. There were many charming shots but this is my favorite because both girls are so involved with their gowns.
Artist Bio: After retiring from almost 50 years of work, first as a film-maker then as a director of photography, I taught at AFI for eight years. And after that I really started to have fun as a still photographer, unencumbered by contracts, schedules or budgets.
